What you’ll do
In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of an end-to-end thermal design cycle of the satellite including verification & validation of the simulation results. This role requires working across multiple disciplines and subsystems, collaborating with a team to develop solutions that will enable first-of-its-kind satellite servicing. This role requires demonstrated experience in working with and building space systems.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all components of the satellite survive all expected thermal loads throughout its lifetime of operation
- Satellite and Component-level thermal design, including design of avionics packages for safe and reliable operational lifetime.
- Write clear, consistent documentation for design, analysis, and reviews.
- Define and run verification/validation campaigns for derisking the design/concept across the stages of development.
- Set test goals, requirements, and pass/fail criteria.
- Compare test results with FEA, fix gaps, and improve models.
- Thermal implementation plan and closely work with the assembly, integration and testing team to ensure the workmanship.
- Thermal operations plan and work closely with the flight software to derive software requirements for active thermal control elements and the Ground software team to derive the operations plan.
What we look for
Minimum requirements
- Strong foundation with space thermal materials such as MLI, Thermal Pads, Thermal grease, etc
- B.Tech/B.E or higher in Mechanical, Physics, Electrical, or any related engineering discipline
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in Thermal Engineering within the aerospace, satellite manufacturing, automotive, or adjacent industries.
- Strong grasp of fundamental concepts of required fields like Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Controls, and Orbital Dynamics
- Experience using CAD software design packages (e.g., NX, CATIA, etc.)
- Strong written and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various subsystems
